The challenge:
The Hearts of Gold Gala was created to become a new flagship fundraising event for Childhood Cancer Support, and it needed to land strongly from day one. Held on Valentine’s Day, the gala had to feel premium and purposeful. The event needed to be elegant and unforgettable, while also shining a light on families facing childhood cancer and the vital role Childhood Cancer Support plays in supporting them.
As a first-year event, expectations were high. Childhood Cancer Support set an ambitious goal of raising $300,000, securing major sponsors, and positioning the gala as a must-attend evening for corporate and philanthropic leaders. At the same time, the event needed to establish a strong foundation for what would become an even larger moment in 2026, marking Childhood Cancer Support’s 50th anniversary.
This wasn’t just about putting on a great night. The brief called for a strategic, creative and future-focused approach that could build momentum and long-term impact.
Our solution:
From the outset, we treated Hearts of Gold as a brand moment, not a one-off event. Superdream worked closely with the Childhood Cancer Support team to develop a distinctive visual identity that felt elegant, emotive and enduring. Timed around Valentine’s Day, the creative leaned into warmth and generosity through gold tones and heart-led design, while maintaining a refined, premium feel that appealed to sponsors and high-value supporters.
Along with other advisors, we sat on the steering committee, which was responsible for overseeing sponsorship, partnerships, media and communications. To amplify reach and elevate the event’s profile, Superdream secured major media partnerships with ARN and NewsCorp Australia, delivering significant in-kind value. This was supported by a coordinated rollout across EDMs and social media, building anticipation and driving ticket sales in the lead-up to the event.
On the night, Childhood Cancer Support orchestrated an unforgettable evening at the Star Casino in Brisbane. We ensured the beauty and details were captured, coordinating professional photography and videography to create high-quality assets for future storytelling. The outcome spoke for itself. The inaugural Hearts of Gold Gala more than doubled its original fundraising target, thanks largely to the incredible sponsors secured by the charity. This result firmly established the event as a standout success and set a powerful benchmark for the years to come. Childhood Cancer Support was also recognised by the Fundraising Institute of Australia, winning the Queensland award, Impact Through Events.
