‘Like’ it or not, Facebook advertising is here to stay

Facebook is not only a form of social media, it’s also a media company, selling advertising space within its 1.49 billion monthly active users news feeds and right hand column advertising space for desktop users (source: (link: http://www.statista.com/statistics/264810/number-of-monthly-active-facebook-users-worldwide/ text: Statista)). With the announcement of a $4.04 billion Q2 2015 earnings, a rise of over 38% compared to Q2 2014, it’s safe to say that advertisers are utilising Facebook’s dynamic and robust advertising features.

There’s a form of Facebook advertisement for pretty much any business goal. Whether this be directing users to your website, increasing brand awareness or engagement within Facebook. All can be achieved; as long as you’re willing to pay of course. As long as you know your goals and know what you’re looking to achieve, measuring success through paid social advertising can prove beneficial, as long as it’s done correctly we must add.

This opens up the following questions: What do I get and just how effective are these advertisements?

### So what do I get for my investment?

For those Facebook users amongst you, we’ve all seen these sponsored posts, whilst innocently scrolling through our Facebook news feed…

In the above example, Tough Mudder UK here are driving traffic to their website in order to promote their event sign ups. As you can see the advertisement itself is very large, with a call to action (learn more) and quite the quirky image to entice users.

Another example here, TopCashBack are promoting downloads of their mobile app.  With an image and user ratings expressed within the advertisement itself, again enticing users to act. As well as Facebook showing the ‘Download’ call to action very prominently.

As well as the above advertisements, there’s a bunch of other advertisements which can be used, such as, promoted posts, offer redemptions, event promotions & many more. Reiterating the fact, that Facebook could be the answer to many of your business needs or problems.

### Just how effective are these advertisements?

There are many factors which can influence how effective your advertisements can be, the following factors, should be taken into consideration:

·         Correct audience targeting

·         Location targeting

·         Correct ad type used

·         Enticing ad copy and imagery

Utilising best practices for Facebook advertisements for one of our clients, Superdream secured during July, the following results against Facebooks most likely competitor, Google AdWords:

·         Facebook achieved 51% more conversions than Google AdWords

·         The cost per acquisition was 49.88% lower for Facebook advertisements

As well the above figures, you may have noticed that below each advertisement, users have been ‘liking’ and commenting on the advertisement, thus expanding engagement with Facebook’s online community, making the money go that little bit further.
