A team from the Australian operation of Superdream has starred on one of Australia’s most top-rated TV panel shows.
Superdream’s Australian director, Kirsty Visman, battled it out and won a creative pitch against a rival agency on ABC 1’s (link: http://www.abc.net.au/tv/programs/gruen/ text: Gruen), which takes a humorous weekly look at the world of advertising. In a segment of the show called The Pitch, opposing agencies take a crack at selling the unsellable as they attempt to answer ‘an impossible creative brief’, which for this show was to convince Australians to pave the Great Barrier Reef.
Superdream’s pitch, centred on the use of virtual reality technology, received the most votes from the esteemed panel of advertising industry judges.
Jason Manning, managing director of Superdream, said: “*It was a great honour for a brand new agency to be recognised and invited to take part on a prime time TV show, and absolutely incredible to have won. Every day we handle difficult and impossible creative challenges and this one was real fun!*”
The Australian operation of Superdream started trading earlier this year and was formally launched during a live airing of the show in front of invited guests, shown simultaneously in the UK at the Aussie themed Walkabout bar in Birmingham, and 10,000 miles away at a launch party in Brisbane.
Kirsty Visman, Superdream’s Australian director, said the brief was challenging but also a great opportunity to showcase the capabilities of the agency: “*Convincing Australians to pave the Great Barrier Reef is certainly challenging, but we had a lot of fun playing around with different creative concepts.*

“Our winning pitch focused on giving everyone the perfect reef experience without the worry of dangerous marine life or unpleasant coral bleaching. Essentially, we convinced Australians to pave over the reef to make way for a new virtual reality experience, Reef 2.0, remembering the reef at its best, making it available for future generations.”
Hosted by Will Anderson, Gruen is one of the most-watched entertainment programs on Wednesday night and smashed The Bachelor Australia in a ratings war in its first episode of the season.
Superdream Australia were the masterminds behind the daring social experiment, ‘(link: https://www.facebook.com/keyassetsaustralia/videos/715648478575761/ text: Would You Walk Past?)’ for international children’s services organisation Key Assets Australia.
