Twitter & Google

The line between social and search just became a bit more blurry. As we all know having a strong social strategy is important, but now it’s even more important than ever, why?…

**Soon tweets will be appearing within your Google searches.**

It’s been in the pipeline for a long time as you may already know, Twitter has just given Google complete access to its firehose (stream of tweets). Why is this important you may ask! Well your tweets are now going to start being seen within Google’s search engine results page (SERP).

Where exactly will these tweets be homed within the SERP? Well you’re guess is as good as mine, but they will be there.

The numbers

Google’s aim is to provide the user with information and what platform give’s the most current and newsworthy? Well Twitter of course.

The amount Google searches per year are on the up and up every single year, with over 40,000 performed every second, that means every second there’s now an *extra 40,000* chances to be seen, if you’re tweeting of course. Now imagine if your Tweet was relevant to that users search, this is why your social and content strategy must firmly be in place.

Why you should start using Twitter

Well, let’s think about this for a second (Not too many seconds, you’re wasting your chances to be seen remember!). The largest search network in the world is now going to start showing Tweets in the SERP’s… Think about the exposure that Twitter is going to receive, against all other social platforms.

Ultimately Twitters traffic and active users are going to increase and with an increased audience, think of the possibilities.

Tick Tock… Tick Tock!
